AEW is filled with some of the brightest stars in the wrestling world, but many fans are hooked on one newcomer.
Hook, who just competed in his second televised match on the “Holiday Bash” episode of AEW Rampage, has quickly become a fan-favorite performer. In these two performances, he has impressed fans and fellow wrestlers alike, and AEW President/General Manager Tony Khan is all aboard the hype train.
In an interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Khan praised Hook by saying he’s a contender for the rookie of the year before he expressed his belief that Hook is a “big reason” why AEW fans have a lot to be excited about in 2022.
“Hook could be rookie of the year in any year,” said Khan. “He has the marketing machine fully behind him. He’s had great coaching from his father, Taz, who is his mentor, and he’s learned from a lot of very intelligent pro wrestlers. It bodes really well for him, and he is going to be special every time you see him on screen. There is so much to look forward to in 2022, and Hook is a big reason for that.”
It’s only a matter of time before Khan sends for Hook again; when he does, it’s fair to expect the 22-year-old to amaze the wrestling world again.
