Bryan Danielson fought Hangman Page to a 60-minute time-limit draw on AEW Winter is Coming, but fans can expect the two stars to clash again at some point soon.
During a recent appearance on Busted Open, AEW President/General Manager Tony Khan discussed this high-profile bout and expressed his excitement at the way wrestling fans responded to the lengthy bout before he commented on the status of the feud between the two stars moving forward.
“Absolutely, it’s amazing to see, and it’s awesome that the audience grew and we built towards over a million fans watching this amazing 60-minute time-limit draw between Hangman Page and Bryan Danielson in Hangman’s first title defense,” said Khan. “..The fans were with it the entire time and the audience on television grew. And for the second half-hour of the match or so, we had over a million people watching, just live on TNT, plus all the great fans around the world, and really that’s so encouraging, to see wrestling fans tuning in as a match builds up and to prove to people that…fans do want to see a one-hour match, fans did enjoy a one-hour match, and those two, Hangman and Bryan Danielson, the pace they kept, I mean it didn’t feel like an hour
“…It was a great fight. And for me at least, I felt like it never dragged. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, and I’ll be honest, I’m excited for what’s coming next with Hangman Page and Bryan Danielson. It’s far from over, and I’ll tell you right now, Bryan Danielson is still the number one contender.”
Khan later reiterated that he’s looking forward to the rematch, though he didn’t specify when the bout would take place.
“I feel like it’s safe to say this is far from over, and Bryan Danielson and Hangman Page is a rematch I’m very, very excited to see,” said Khan.
With AEW Holiday Bash, Battle of the Belts and more major shows on the horizon, there’s no shortage of options, but it’s fair to assume that the second match between Hangman and Danielson will be just as electric as the first.
