Tony Khan compares CM Punk to another infamous Chicago legend.
During a recent interview with Rasslin’ with Brandon Walker, Tony Khan spoke about AEW Dynamite’s holiday plans before the conversation turned to the pair talking about their favorite Christmas movies. Khan named Home Alone as his pick, giving an honorable mention to Die Hard and Scrooged as well.
Khan compared Home Alone 2 to Major League 2 and pointed out the similarities in plot and theme, noting that it hits the same beats but still introduces some new characters that make it enjoyable enough. Walker then said one good thing about Home Alone 2 was that it allowed Macaulay Culkin’s Kevin McCallister to pick up a “road win” against the Wet Bandits, and Khan said it’s not unlike the response CM Punk gets in Chicago and on the road.
“I think it’s like CM Punk where he’s really over in Chicago, but then he comes to New York and he’s also really over,” Khan said. “[Punk is] a Chicago guy and he’s super over in Chicago, and then he comes to New York — you know how we did All Out and he wrestled Darby and it was huge, and then we did Grand Slam in New York here at Arthur Ashe Stadium and he wrestled Powerhouse Hobbs. He’s the home team everywhere, CM Punk, just like McCallister.”
MJF recently compared another literary legend to CM Punk, noting that he is similar to Batman. MJF explained how he’s the Joker to Punk’s Dark Knight and they need each other; read more about their dynamic at this link.
