Fan Who Attacked Seth Rollins: I Had A ‘Legitimate Beef,’ But I Could Have Handled It Differently

The November 22 episode of WWE RAW featured a shocking moment, as former WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins was attacked by a fan. Since then, the assailant has spoken out in an attempt to explain his actions on Monday.

Shortly after the attack, social media discovered the account of the man who attacked Rollins. In a weird twist, users seemed to discover that the man was catfished by a fake Seth Rollins account, which conned him into giving them money. Speaking to the New York Daily News, the man who attacked Rollins apologized and essentially admitted to being duped.

“I apologized to the WWE for my actions. I had a legitimate beef but as a grown man I could have settled it a different way … If I saw him today I wouldn’t attack him. I’ve moved on…He was asking me to send him gift cards in exchange for money, mostly $500 or more to see if I was loyal,” the man said. “He asked me to be a wrestling blogger for him. I wanted to work my way up.”

The man went on to say that his plan for attacking Rollins was to help out Finn Balor, who had been attacked by Rollins just moments prior.

“My plan was to help Finn Balor. I’m a fan,” he said. “I like his aura, his attitude. I like everything about his charisma. I like everything about him…I jumped from where I was sitting at. I ran and speared Seth Rollins. I busted his lip open and he caught me in a headlock, I broke the headlock and I was trying to get him, then the referees and the security guards broke us apart.”

According to a report from ESPN’s Marc Raimondi, the 24-year-old male, whose name was later revealed to be Elisah Spencer, was taken into custody by the NYPD, and he has already been charged with attempted assault and attempted violation of arts and cultural affairs.

Rollins’ comments about the attack are available here.
