Fan Attacks Seth Rollins On 11/22 WWE RAW, Charged With Attempted Assault (Updated)

In a stunning moment on the November 22 episode of WWE RAW, a fan hopped the security barricade and attack WWE Superstar Seth Rollins.

Seth Rollins — who was set to face off against Finn Balor on Monday— made a big splash tonight by deciding to simply ambush and assault Balor prior to their match. After he left Balor down and out in the ring, Rollins began to leave back up the ramp. At this point, a fan came charging at Rollins and tackled him onto the ground.

Both the crowd and WWE commentary didn’t know what was happening at first, but it soon became clear that this wasn’t part of the show, as a wave of WWE officials and security came running down to pull the man off of Rollins. As the former world champion got up, he began yelling at the man, who was dragged off as the fans chanting “lock him up” in the process. Still, Rollins regained his composure and taunted Balor because the show must go on.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful shared the following statement from WWE in response to the attack, which made it clear that the perpetrator has been turned over to the police.

WWE takes the safety of its performers very seriously. The individual who attacked Seth Rollins has been turned over to the NYPD and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Marc Raimondi of ESPN later tweeted an update by noting that the perpetrator, a 24-year-old male, has been taken into custody. According to the New York City Police Department, the fan is 24-year-old Elisah Spencer, who has been charged with attempted assault and attempted violation of arts and cultural affairs (disrupting live sporting event) for his attack on Rollins. The NYPD also noted that Rollins suffered swelling to his lip, but refused medical attention.

WrestleZone will provide more details as they become available.
