Shane Thorne Released By WWE

Shane Thorne has been released by WWE.

According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, Shane Thorne was released by WWE on Thursday, November 18. Budget cuts were cited as the reason for the latest round of releases, per an email sent to talent by John Laurinaitis.

Thorne signed with WWE alongside former TMDK partner Mikey Nicholls in February 2016. The duo worked as TM-61 on the NXT brand until Nicholls was released from his contract in December 2018. Thorne briefly worked as a singles wrestler until he teamed with Brendan Vink on RAW. He later joined the Retribution stable in September 2020 under the new name ‘Slapjack.’

More recently, he made a return to WWE live events as Shane Thorne, this time using a Crocodile Dundee-inspired gimmick. His final television appearance for WWE was on the April 9 episode of SmackDown as a participant in the André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. His final match for the company was a dark match win over Austin Theory at the September 24 SmackDown tapings in Philadelphia.

Thorne was one of eight performers released on Thursday evening.
