Jeff Hardy Had An Idea For A Bob Ross-Inspired Character, Sees Willow As His ‘Fiend’

During his time with TNA/IMPACT Wrestling, Jeff Hardy introduced the world to the somewhat supernatural Willow character. Now it seems like he’s ready to bring that persona to the WWE Universe with a fiendish twist.

In a recent interview with Metro.co.uk, Hardy discussed how he initially envisioned the character as acting similar to another former WWE superstar in Bray Wyatt, who had The Fiend as an alter-ego.

“I think there’s something special about Willow. I’ve written down some ideas, I don’t know if they really make sense. I’ve yet to pitch any to anybody, creatively, in WWE,” Hardy said. “So I just need to go in and do that, not hesitate. They might shut it down, but it might be cool. I can’t help but think how cool it was when I first witnessed The Fiend, and the light shutting down. It was so cool to me – that’s kinda my thing too, I was like, “Man, this is so cool!” Now he’s not here anymore, I think there’s something really cool Willow could do similar to that.”

Hardy went on to note that his idea for Willow would have him acting like the iconic painter personality Bob Ross, but he’s unsure if that might be a bit too close to what The Fiend had with his Firefly Fun House.

“It wouldn’t be exactly like that, but I’ve even had ideas like a Jeff Ross character – like I was a painter, a really silly painter Jeffery Ross, and then Willow would be my Fiend,” Hardy said. “But then that’s too much like the Fun House. But that’s what’s cool about pro wrestling – anything’s possible and anything can make sense if it’s thought out correctly and really believed in.”

It’s currently unknown if Hardy will actually bring back the fan-favorite character, but with his recent move from Monday Night RAW to Friday Night SmackDown, many fans expect to see the former world champion receive a new character. In the interview, Hardy went on to note that his mind is currently “running wild” with ideas because he feels the new wave of talent practically breathing down his neck.

“I’m not sure. My thoughts are running wild with this idea because I feel like I am, in the end, known with WWE because I’m an older guy, I’ve been around a long time,’ he admitted,” Hardy said. “The newer talent’s coming up from NXT like crazy, every week it seems like there’s somebody different there and it’s like, “Oh God, here’s the future coming to knock out the present AND the past.”
