Anna Jay and Jamie Hayter clashed in a first-round match in the AEW TBS Women’s Championship Tournament on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite. Thanks to some timely interference from AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker, Hayter won the bout to advance to the second round.
From the start, it seemed like Jay had her work cut out for her, but she gained some momentum by throwing Hayter to the floor and into the barricade. Even after a flurry of offense, Jay still couldn’t keep Hayter down for the count.
Jay then hit Hayter with a DDT for a near fall, and clearly frustrated, she allowed herself to be distracted by Rebel and Baker, who wre down at ringside for the match. Their interference allowed Hayter to quickly hit Jay with a lariat for the three count.

After the pin, Baker’s opponent at AEW Full Gear, Tay Conti tried to save Jay from a three-on-one beatdown. When the numbers game started to favor Baker again, Thunder Rosa rushed to the ring and saved Conti and Jay, and Baker quickly left the premises.
