Doudrop is currently shining as a singles star on WWE RAW, but she first stepped into the spotlight on the red brand alongside Eva Marie. This partnership eventually imploded and led to a rivalry between the two stars before they ultimately went their separate ways.
In an interview with Louis Dangoor of GiveMeSport, Doudrop looked back on the beginning of her time on the main roster. She recalled how WWE played its plans for her close to the vest, leaving her to merely wait and see how her arrival would go down.
“It was extremely secretive, like for months I had no idea,” said Doudrop. “I was left purely to guess and speculate. They really like to keep all their cards close to the chest, and I understand why because sometimes things don’t work out, and they don’t want you to get excited and then things change… Like at one point I was like ‘You guys know I’m here yeah?'”
Of course, WWE indeed knew she was there and proceeded to place her in a prominent role next to Marie. But the former Piper Niven’s debut came after months of waiting around; she described how she came to the United States in March, but she didn’t even know that she’d be working with Marie until June.
“I didn’t actually know that me and Eva would be working together until the week before my debut and I remember getting the call,” Doudrop continued. “Yeah, I got the call and they’re like ‘you are going to be working with Eva Marie’, and I was like ‘What? I thought she retired.”
In the end, it all worked out, as the former NXT UK star’s run with Marie set her up for singles success on WWE RAW; she recently made it to the finals of the Queen’s Crown tournament, where she lost to Zelina Vega.
