Ruby Soho has shined in the spotlight since her arrival in All Elite Wrestling.
In her first match, she won the Casino Battle Royale to earn a shot at AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker. She went on to face Baker in the main event of AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam, but the challenger came up short in this high-profile bout. Still, Soho has the chance to bounce back in a big way with the TBS Women’s Championship. Having already advanced to the second round, she could make history by winning the tournament and becoming the inaugural champion.
In an interview with Inside The Ropes, Soho reflected on her disappointing loss to Baker and emphasized how her focus has shifted to the TBS Women’s Championship. She stated that she wants to prove herself as an in-ring competitor, and her loss to Baker helped her realized that she can compete at the highlest level.
“I have a lot, like coming here, and having the history that I do and the experience that I do, I have a lot to prove, more so to myself, I think, than anybody else, about what I’m capable of as a performer,” said Soho. “I think right now I have the most freedom of who I am, as a performer, as a wrestler, I have the most freedom and I have the most control, and I think I’m trying to map out my steps carefully because I want to set myself up for success and I want to prove to myself than I can still do it and that I can still go.
“I proved to myself that I could do it. Now it’s just about okay, now you can do it, now what can you do with it? And so obviously that is geared towards right now, my main focus is making history in this company as the first-ever TBS Women’s Champion and in order do for that, I gotta go through a lot of women in the tournament to make that happen. So that’s like my main focus right now, and it’s to get to know the women that I don’t know as well and refresh myself on the women that I do, and to just get myself as prepared as I possibly can so that I can really hit the ground running.”
