Calvin Tankman wants to cement his status as a legitimate player in MLW‘s main event scene, and he views the Opera Cup as a fitting chance to do so.
Tankman has already defeated Matt Cross in the opening round, and he’s hoping to punch his ticket to the finals at MLW War Chamber.
In an interview with Cageside Seats’ Shakiel Mahjouri, Tankman shared his thoughts on the tournament and described how it’s an opportunity to prove himself against some excellent competition.
“It’s the opportunity to get back into the main event scene and prove that I belong to be,” Tankman said. “One of the lasting things I hear a lot of people say is… ‘I watched your match with Fatu. It’s really good.’ To a lot of people that would be a compliment, but to me, it’s saying your lasting memory of me in your head is me failing to get the biggest win of my career.
“That cup is something that no one can take away from me. It’s something that proves on that night I am one of the best wrestlers in the world.”
Tankman will be in action on the October 27 episode of MLW Fusion: ALPHA, which will also feature two first-round Opera Cup bouts. WrestleZone will have coverage of the show once it airs.
