Tony Khan is making sure this week’s episode of AEW Rampage is as big as it can be.
Tony Khan appeared on WFAN’s Moose And Maggie show on Tuesday and made the announcement that AEW will air a “Buy-In” special as a lead-in to this week’s live episode of AEW Rampage on Friday, October 15. Normally linked to AEW’s pay-per-view events, this Buy-In will air live on YouTube at 9 pm EST prior to AEW Rampage going live from the James Knight Center in Miami.
Khan also announced that Bobby Fish and Bryan Danielson, who will face each other on Dynamite this Saturday, will be in competition on the Buy-In show. No opponents or further details about their matches were announced.
The updated event card for the October 15 episode of AEW Rampage (including the Buy-In broadcast) is as follows:
CM Punk vs. Matt Sydal
Ruby Soho vs. The Bunny
Inner Circle (Chris Jericho, Jake Hager & Sammy Guevara) vs. Men of the Year (Ethan Page & Scorpio Sky) & Junior Dos Santos (w/ Dan Lambert & Jorge Masvidal)
The Buy-In
Bryan Danielson vs. TBA
The Buy-In
Bobby Fish vs. TBA
The addition of the Buy-In event also means that AEW will go head-to-head with WWE SmackDown for 90 minutes on Friday. Earlier this week, WWE announced a “Supersized” episode of SmackDown would run until 10:30 pm EST on FS1 (due to MLB playoffs). Now with the Buy-In starting an hour early, the two promotions will air against each other for 90 minutes.
Khan was also asked about the possibility of bringing Bray Wyatt to All Elite Wrestling and he explained that there was a lack of progress on that front. Read his full statement on Wyatt at this link.
