Report: WWE Talent And Staff Frustrated By Recent Booking Of Women’s Division

Fans aren’t the only ones who have been feeling frustrated by the booking of WWE’s women’s division in recent weeks.

According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, some talent and staff members alike are feeling “significant frustration” about the creative decisions in the division in recent weeks.

Ross Sapp’s report references the past week’s episode of WWE SmackDown; on October 8, Carmella defeated Liv Morgan in a first-round bout in the Queen’s Crown tournament. The decision to have Carmella defeat Morgan, a fan-favorite whose booking has previously been the source of criticism, generated plenty of negative feedback on social media. Ross Sapp reports that Morgan had been slated to win the bout, but the outcome ultimately went the other way.

Likewise, the fact that the combination of this bout and the other Queen’s Crown match between Toni Storm and Zelina Vega got less than five minutes on the show caused even more frustration, at least among fans. Ross Sapp notes that there’s some frustration with the talent roster and staff team for a similar reason, as the women’s division has been given relatively limited amounts of TV time, compared to other parts of the show.

Weeks ago, the September 10 Super SmackDown show in Madison Square Garden was another source of criticism because there wasn’t a women’s match on the show. Fightful’s report adds some context to the internal reaction and general feeling regarding the ongoing treatment of the women’s division.

WrestleZone will provide more details as they become available.
