Kevin Smith On AEW Appearance: The Way They Do Celebrity Crossovers Is An Art

There’s an art in properly adding celebrities into professional wrestling programs.

Perhaps nobody does it better than AEW, if you listen to Kevin Smith, that is.

The ‘Clerks III’ director recently spoke with ET Canada’s Shakiel Mahjouri and called AEW’s ability to mix celebrities into their shows ‘art’.

“AEW does it very artfully. It doesn’t feel like, ‘Oh this guy is doing it to reach a brand new audience.’ It feels like they’re doing it because it’s part of the fun.”

Smith, alongside ‘Jay And Silent Bob’ co-star Jay Mewes appeared at the inaugural episode of AEW: Dynamite to reveal the promotion’s tag team championships. When asked if he’d be interested in working with AEW once again, Smith explained that he was more than open to the idea.

“In a heartbeat, I would go back. I love Jericho. So anything he needs from me, I’ll happily go do. I imagine we’ll kind of jump back out into the ring when it’s around ‘Clerks III’ time. As we saw recently, Rosario [Dawson] got involved which was pretty awesome.”

‘Clerks III’ star Rosario Dawson was involved in a segment with Malakai Black on the September 15 edition of AEW: Dynamite. Dawson is also a judge for season two of the hit-TBS series ‘GO-Big Show’ with Cody Rhodes, who saved Dawson from being attacked by the aforementioned Black.
