Tommaso Ciampa kicked off the 9/21 episode by standing in the ring with several of the brand’s “new generation”, including Carmelo Hayes, Odyssey Jones and Bron Breakker. He explained that he’s happy his 900+ day absence from the NXT Title ended last week. He put over the wrestlers in the ring before he praised the loyal fans. He then claimed that NXT 2.0 became the “A” show when he won the title. “The Blackheart” wanted to make sure the fans told the world that “We are NXT!”
Cameron Grimes joined the party by saying that he was fired up by all the energy. He stated that NXT Title is the “rocket fuel” he needs to go to the moon. Joe Gacy, who was in the ring, stopped him, but then LA Knight joined the fray. Odyssey Jones interrupted him, but he is cut off by Pete Dunne and Ridge Holland. A huge brawl subsequently broke out when the locker room empties.
In the end, Ciampa and Breakker were the only two men left in the ring when they tossed Dunne and Holland out of it. Breakker grabbed the mic to challenge both Dunne and Holland to a tag team match later in the evening, and the bout was booked as Tuesday’s main event.
