Marina Shafir, Minoru Suzuki And Others Announced For Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport 7

Game Changer Wrestling has announced that it will hold Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport 7 on October 22. In two Twitter posts, Barnett announced that Marina Shafir and Calvin Tankman will be on the card.

Shafir has a background as a legitimate MMA fighter, with a 1-2 record as a professional and a 5-0 run as an amateur. She hasn’t fought since at Invicta FC 13: Cyborg vs. Van Duin in 2015.

WWE signed Shafir in 2018, but despite her association with Shana Baszler, she didn’t have a prominent role on television. She briefly appeared on WWE RAW Underground in 2020, but the company released her on June 25, 2021.

Tankman is no rookie in the Bloodsport arena; he has a 2-1 record at the show, with his most recent bout at Bloodsport 5 ending in a TKO victory against Nolan Edward.

GCW also announced that living legend Minoru Suzuki, who recently returned to the promotion for a stretch of a few shows, will compete at Bloodsport. Barnett commented on the news by calling Suzuki a “brother in Gotch-ism” and a fellow “King of Pancrase.” As Barnett points out, Suzuki is renowned across the world for his incredibly brutal style; a national audience got to see this violence in action when Suzuki faced Jon Moxley on the Septepmber 8 episode of AEW Dynamite.

Bloodsport is renowned for its brutal physicality, as it combines MMA and wrestling. In the memorable main event of the most recent edition, Josh Barnett defeated former AEW World Champion Jon Moxley in a remarkably violent bout.

Update: later on Sunday, GCW announced that former WWE star Killer Kelly, who has competed all over the world, will also compete at the show.
