Darby Allin took on Shawn Spears in a singles match during tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite, and while he did grab a remarkable victory in the match, he and his mentor Sting were not so lucky afterward.
After Allin won the bout by hitting Spears with the Coffin Drop, FTR quickly stormed the ring to attack the former AEW TNT Champion and Sting. Tully Blanchard took the opportunity to get in the face of “The Icon”, while FTR began their beatdown of the legendary star. Allin attempted to get up and rescue his partner, but Cash Wheeler kept him down with a few more brutal blows. Dax Harwood then got Sting up off the ground before FTR hit a nasty Spike Piledriver on him.
Blanchard ended the segment by wiping the facepaint of Sting off with a towel before throwing it right back down in his face. The broadcast team later confirmed that FTR will face Sting and Allin next Wednesday on AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam in what will be Sting’s third match since he joined the company.
