Kushida returned to a drastically different WWE NXT on Tuesday night, and he challenged Roderick Strong to an NXT Cruiserweight Championship match. In response, Malcom Bivens, the mouthpiece of Roderick Strong’s Diamond Back group, set next Tuesday’s show as the time and place.
Kushida was scheduled to defend his title against Strong on the August 17 episode, but the match never happened. The champion later announced that he tested positive for COVID-19, so he hasn’t been on the show in several weeks. His appearance on this week’s show ended his absence, and Kushida will be back in the spotlight when he puts the title on the line next week.
