Hammerstone won the Battle Riot in July to earn this title shot, and he’s cashing it in at MLW Fightland.
Fatu, with CONTRA Unit by his side, has held the title since July 6, 2019, when he defeated Tom Lawlor at MLW Kings of Colosseum. His reign stands at 788 days and counting, as of this writing. Hammerstone is the inaugural MLW National Openweight Champion; he emerged victorious in the finals of a four-man tournament at MLW Fury Road 2019 to win the gold; as a result, his reign stands at 824 days and counting. Both lengthy reigns were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, but they are impressive nonetheless.
