Deonna Purrazzo wants to see more women walk through the forbidden door now that it has been opened.
Deonna Purrazzo recently spoke with WrestleZone and spoke about being the first IMPACT woman through the “forbidden door” and the prospect of more Knockouts following her. Jordynne Grace recently spoke to talkSPORT about some of her frustrations with the lack of female talent crossing over to other shows, noting that she thought it would be more of a wide-open door than it has been. Purrazzo was asked those comments, as well as if she had any advice for those that wanted to follow in her footsteps and be next. “The Virtuosa” said she definitely agreed that seeing more women working across different promotions can only be good for the sport, and it can only go up from here.
“I can agree with Jordynne’s sentiment, I think that the more women’s wrestling we have crossing through that forbidden door, the better. I think there’s so many ‘dream matchups’ and there’s so much potential with everyone who is involved in NWA, everyone involved in AEW’s women’s division, so I could agree [with that position].
“I think the positive thing is it’s just getting started and we don’t know where it’s headed. With all of the women wanting to be part of it and advocating for it, it can only go up from here. I was very vocal about wanting to be that first woman through the forbidden door and to be able to approach Faby [Apache in AAA] a couple months ago, make my debut and stake my claim at wanting to be the women’s Reina de Reinas champion kinda fulfilled that for me,” Purrazzo said. “It can only go up, not just for me, but all of the women in all of these companies that are working together right now.”

Purrazzo also spoke about finally getting the chance to have fans back at shows last month, as most of her IMPACT career and two title runs took place without fans. Purrazzo has now been with IMPACT Wrestling for 450 days, and she’s reigned as Knockouts Champion for 390 days over two reigns in that period. Purrazzo said she definitely felt a little pressure heading into Slammiversary, but noted that it couldn’t have gone any better.
“I was a little nervous because you don’t know how they are going to react and I didn’t know how people would receive me as the champion. We are in my second title reign, but being Knockouts Champion the first time was the first time I’d ever held a major title in a company before. I definitely felt the pressure going into Slammiversary of ‘How are they going to react?’ and ‘Are they going to welcome me as the champion, or are they going to boo me?’ Luckily, they were just as excited to see me as I was to see them and they were excited to see everyone, so it’s definitely different and it was an adrenaline rush that I haven’t felt in a long time, having fans there and being in a high profile match. I think Slammiversary was amazing, I wouldn’t have wanted it to go any [different] better.”
