Mickie James won her first singles match since September 2020 at NWA 73, but her celebration was quickly ruined.
On Sunday night, James defeated Kylie Rae in her first match since her WWE release. The bout was evenly matched, but James earned the win with her signature DDT.
After the bout, a masked woman attacked James and revealed herself to be IMPACT Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo. She dropped James with a pump kick and floored her with a package piledriver.

Purrazzo and James, the executive producer of NWA EmPowerrr, had been feuding in recent weeks on IMPACT Wrestling, and this attack left fans wondering whether the two stars could collide in a match at some point soon.
