Following the conclusion of AEW Dynamite last night, All Elite Wrestling owner Tony Khan came out in front of the Milwaukee live crowd to introduce the NBA Finals MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and awarded him an AEW Championship replica title.
Giannis Antetokounmpo is a big-time wrestling fan who led the Milwaukee Bucks to an NBA Championship this year, defeating the Phoenix Suns in the NBA Finals.
Antetokounmpo celebrated in the ring with the AEW Championship with the backdrop for AEW Rampage on the stage. Hence, there is potential that All Elite Wrestling plans to utilize this footage on Friday night, but it could have also just been something for the live crowd in Milwaukee last night; only time will tell.
This isn’t the first time All Elite Wrestling has done some crossover with the NBA, as Shaquille O’Neal has appeared on AEW Dynamite several times, which eventually led him to wrestle in a tag match earlier on in the year. Recent reports suggest he’ll return to the ring for All Elite Wrestling later this year to face Paul Wight.
