Important news if you’re heading to Las Vegas for WWE SummerSlam next month.
According to the Reno Gazette Journal, the state of Nevada has announced an indoor mask mandate for Clark County, which includes Las Vegas, which will host next month’s SummerSlam pay-per-view.
Per the report, 12 of the 17 Nevada counties will now order people, vaccinated or not, to wear masks in public indoor spaces. The order begins this Friday, July 30 at 12:01 a.m. Clark County has accounted for over 80% of COVID-19 cases in the state. The vaccination rate in the county is only at a reported 39%.
Jon Alba of Spectrum Sports 360 notes that Allegiant Stadium, the specific home for SummerSlam, a venue with an “open-air concept.” He also points out that the stadium has a “technically” domed roof. It’s not quite clear how the mask mandate will impact the pay-per-view.

Earlier this week, Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam.net reported that AEW is “extremely concerned” about the rising COVID-19 numbers, as they could lead to more mask mandates like the one Nevada just announced for Clark Country. This trend might not bode well for the professional wrestling industry, which only recently started holding live shows in front of sizable crowds again.
