Harry Smith, who most recently wrestled as Davey Boy Smith Jr. is back in WWE and worked a dark match before the July 16 episode of Friday Night SmackDown. Harry teamed with Austin Theory to go against the tag team of Odyssey Jones and Xyon Quinn. Prior to this, Smith was released by WWE in August 2011 and since then had worked around the world for MLW, Pro Wrestling NOAH, New Japan Pro Wrestling, and more.
In a WWE digital exclusive released during SmackDown, Harry spoke about being excited to show his growth in the WWE
“You know, it’s great to be back in the WWE, especially in front of the WWE Universe live here in Houston, Texas. The atmosphere, the ambiance, the energy that you can feel from a live WWE audience, nothing can touch that. That’s why Harry Smith is back in the WWE. For the past 10 years, I’ve been going around the globe making myself the best competitor that I can be. All over Japan. All over Europe. That’s why I’m back in the WWE, to show how much Harry Smith has grown over this past time.”
Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that Smith was signed as far back as March of this year but both sides made the decision to keep the signing quiet until the time was appropriate for him to show up in front of the WWE Universe.
Harry was a part of WrestleMania weekend when he accepted his father’s induction into the WWE Hall of Fame.
