On Friday, the LA Shorts International Film Festival selected two WWE Network Documentaries to be shown at the upcoming event.
The two films, Heaven and Superfan: The Story of Vladimir, will play during the festival, which runs from July 1-31, 2021. The festival ranks among the most prestigious and largest short film festivals in the world, and is accredited by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, and the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television.
Heaven tells the story of a trailblazing high school wrestler named Heaven Fitch. In 2020, as a junior, Fitch became the first female athlete to win a boy’s state wrestling championship in North Carolina, claiming the top spot in the 106-pound weight class. The film documents her inspiring journey up the ranks and the challenges she faced along the way, from proving doubters wrong to defying the odds and making history.
Superfan: The Story of Vladimir focuses on Vladimir Abouzeide, also known as one of the biggest WWE superfans in professional wrestling. The documentary follows Abouzeide and tells his story of attending WWE events for more than 30 years, including being a fixture at ringside in WWE’s home arena of Madison Square Garden.
