Sonya Deville Will Comment On Kidnapping Trial When It’s Over, Believes She Can Help Other Performers

Sonya Deville isn’t trying to dwell on the negative too much when it comes to her alleged kidnapper’s upcoming trial.

The SmackDown star recently spoke with Variety about how she’s trying to focus on helping others in the community as well as the WWE performers that she works alongside on a daily basis and not so much on the upcoming kidnapping trial.

“So the trial hasn’t even begun yet. We’ll probably be dealing with that for the next several months. But I will definitely speak on it once it’s all legally wrapped up. There are things that I want to say that I think could help performers, and just people in general, in the future.”

Deville is still thankful for the overwhelming amount of positive message she’s received over the last few months, which she says, outweighs the number of negative comments she’s gotten in that time.

“I would say that about 70% of my fan base is part of the community somehow, some way. I get messages constantly on Instagram and Twitter and emails, just all the people always asking me like, ‘Hey, do you have any advice on how I should come out?’ Or ‘Thank you. You helped me feel OK with myself and my sexuality.’ That’s literally the reason I use my voice.”

The 27-year old would also discuss the importance of being WWE’s first openly gay female wrestler as well as her Mixed Martial Arts background.
