ROH Roundup: RUSH Comments On Suspension, EC3 Vows Violence, Women’s Division Wednesday Match Announced

It’s only Tuesday, but it’s already been eventful week in the world of Ring of Honor.

On “ROH Week  By Week”,  ROH World Champion RUSH commented on La Faccion Ingobernable’s suspension, which was announced late last week. When Quinn McKay informed him about it, the champion angrily yelled at kicked over a chair backstage.

The company has also announced that The OGK (Matt Taven and Mike Bennett) will challenge The Foundation (Rhett Titus and Tracy Williams) the weekend of May 22.

On the newest episode of ROH Wrestling, EC3 picked up a controversial win. In a tag team match with Flip Gordon against The Briscoes, EC3 got the pin after Gordon hit Mark with a chain. On “Week By Week”, EC3 expressed his initial satisfaction with the victory, but when he learned about Gordon’s usage of the chain, EC3 warned that there will be “violence.”

“The Mecca” Brian Johnson was also in action, and in a recent interview with WrestleZone, he discussed his recent success in ROH. Though he lost his open challenge (which was answered by PCO,) in a backstage interview, Johnson vowed that he will run ROH someday.

For a thorough discussion of this week’s show and all things ROH, please check out the corresponding episode of our Recap of Honor podcast.

This upcoming week on ROH Wrestling, Josh Woods will face his former tag team partner, Silas Young. “The Last Real Man” cost Woods his match with Dalton Castle at ROH 19th Anniversary. Plus, Shane Taylor Promotions will defend the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship against Primal Fear. The challengers have been featured on ROH Week By Week, but this weekend’s show will mark the trio’s debut on the main program.

“Week By Week” also offered fans a look at the updated rankings. Woods is the top-ranked contender for Jonathan Gresham’s Pure Championship, adding even more weight to his match with Young. With a win, Woods could earn a shot at the title. Dragon Lee is ranked #1 in the Television division, but with LFIs’s suspension, Tracy Williams (#2), Dalton Castle (#3) and Flamita (#4) have the chance to climb to the top of the board. Lee and Kenny King are ranked first in the tag team division, but their suspension paved the way for The OGK’s upcoming championship match.

Also of note, fans can now watch a trailer for the “Free The Narrative” event, where EC3 will face Matt Cardona. Additionally, EC3 shared an update about his recent hospitalization.

Despite Vincent’s absence, something wicked this way comes; The Righteous continue to hint that they have something dastardly planned. At this point, it’s unclear what Bateman, Vita VonStarr and the group’s monstrous newcomer, Dutch have planned, but it can’t be good.

In a recent apperance on the Wrestling Perspective Podcast, free agent Chelsea Green doubled down on her interest in working for Ring of Honor.

The ROH Women’s World Championship Tournament could be an appropriate opportunity for Green to make her debut with the company. The tournament bracket is stil mysterious, but Rok-C has officially earned a spot in it. Plus, with her win over Quinn McKay, Angelina Love clinched a first-round bye in the tournament. Another participant will be revealed on Women’s Division Wednesday, which airs Wednesday at 7 p.m. EST. In this week’s match, Trish Adora will face Miranda Alize.

Former Women of Honor Champion Sumie Sakai defeated VonStarr on last week’s show, so she could be a contender for the spot. McKay is another possibility at some point; on “Week By Week”, she teased her eventual return to the ring.
