In the ring, PCO is known for putting his body on the line each and every time he competes. From performing his infamous somersault (that he often misses) to taking powerbombs onto concrete floors, “The French Frankenstein” is renowned for his breathtaking style.
But it’s fair to wonder how much wrestling mileage is on his body. As a man who has been wrestling for more than three decades, PCO has taken countless bumps. Fans would surely forgive the 53-year old if he started to slow down, but he doesn’t plan to.
PCO recently spoke with WrestleZone and explained that though it might seem like he’s reckless with his body, but he actually takes his health quite seriously.
“It’s weird because on one side, when you see me in the ring, I look like a guy who doesn’t care for his body and his own being, and on the other side, I’m trying to do everything to take care of it,” said PCO. “So it’s just a paradox, but it’s so true.”
“The French Frankenstein” then detailed his extensive fitness routine, which includes everything from running to golf.
“I’m running every day, I’m going in the ring and I’m running the ropes,” said PCO. “I love to run distances, short distances, long distances, I lot to do a lot of other things. I like to play hockey, I like to play ball, I like to golf, I’m a huge sports lover. I played hockey last winter in different leagues.
“I don’t feel like, ‘Oh, okay, I feel injured here and there.’ That’s why I’m thinking maybe because, to be quite frank with you, I don’t go to bed late, I don’t go out. Pandemic, no pandemic, it’s the same for me, pretty much lifestyle. Right now, since maybe 2015, 2016, I’ve been very disciplined, and I impose a lot of discipline on myself, I’ve got a bunch of things I’ve got to do every day. That many reps of this, and I’ve got to run that amount of kilometers or miles. So my whole day is structured with a lot of things just to be ready and to be capable of doing what I do to bump.”
PCO’s high-flying offense is also remarkable for a reason that has nothing to do with his age. Though he’s roughly 300 pounds, he often flies around the ring like wrestlers who are half his size. “The French Frankenstein” explained how he likes to take bumps that cruiserweights usually do. But at the same time, he doesn’t want to damage his character.
“I took for, I think Jay Lethal and Jonathan Gresham, I took the Doomsday [Device] and it’s like sometimes guys go, ‘Oh no, we don’t have to, we can do something [else],” said PCO. “No, I want to do it. Like personally, it’s cool for me to do it. And sometimes I shouldn’t do it because I feeling I should weigh, in the people’s mind, I should weigh like 1000 pounds, and I wanna play my character like this.
“But in the meantime, I wanna give something different, and I want to give a lot to the crowd, to the fans, without burning the character, without making my character look not heavy enough or easy to pick up or something like that. So I’ve got to be very, very, I’m walking on a thin line, in a grey zone where I have to be careful with what I want to do, but in the meantime, I like to please the fans.”
