The Buy In for AEW Revolution was set to feature a tag team match where Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. and Rebel would join forces to face Thunder Rosa and Riho. Before the show, AEW announced that Rebel was not cleared to compete, so Baker requested a new partner for the match.
Rebel’s replacement turned out to be “The Fired Idol” Maki Itoh, and the match marked Itoh’s debut in the United States. Itoh has starred in Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling and DDT Pro-Wrestling, and she is a former International Princess Champion in TJPW.

Baker controlled the match early on, but Rosa gained the upper hand. Some theatrics gave Itoh the upper hand, as she caught Rosa off-guard. But Riho and Rosa worked well together, and they gained momentum with some double-team maneuvers.
Later in the match, Rosa rallied and floored Baker with a flurry of offense. In the end, Baker stole the win by pinning Rosa after Rebel hit her with a crutch.
