From the start of tonight’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Roman Reigns was out to get revenge on Adam Pearce for making Jey Uso take on Kevin Owens last week. This quest for revenge eventually led to Pearce being forced to enter a Gauntlet match, and receiving a brutal beating to end the night.
In a match that was originally meant to feature Rey Mysterio, Sami Zayn, King Corbin, and Shinsuke Nakamura battling it out to become the newest No. 1 Contender for the WWE Universal Championship, things eventually came down to Nakamura and Bryan, who also entered into the match late. In a surprising turn of events, Nakamura defeated Bryan with a huge Kinshasa, setting up a final match between himself and Adam Pearce.
However, Reigns – joined by Uso and Paul Heyman – made their way down to the ring, and after watching Pearce come down and enter the ring, they began assaulting Nakamura in the ring. Uso delivered a brutal superkick to Nakamura, which Reigns quickly followed up with a Superman Punch. After Pearce got into the ring, Uso then superkicked him, and Reigns quickly demanded that the referee ring the bell before Uso dragged Pearce’s body over Nakamura to give him the win.
Now, Pearce will be the next No. 1 Contender for the Universal Championship, and with another match against Reigns in the future, it’ll be interesting to see just what Pearce does to try and avoid another beating.
