Tonight’s episode of NXT featured a special guest from the WWE brand, as Lucha House Party invaded to take on Legado del Fantasma. In the process of facing them in a match, a title match was set for NXT’s New Year’s Evil, with Gran Metalik set to take on Santos Escobar for the NXT Cruiserweight Championship.
The segment kicked off with Escobar and his group coming down to the ring, where he proceeded to gloat about how good he’s been and how unstoppable Legado del Fantasma is. As Escobar spoke about how no one could stop him from continuing to reign on as NXT Cruiserweight Champion, though, Lucha House Party arrived, and quickly got into a brawl with Legado del Fantasma that ended up turning into a legitimate tag team match. In the match itself, it was Lucha House Party that came away with the win, after Metalik was able to walk along the ropes and drop a huge elbow onto Mendoza late in the match for the win.
Following the end of the match, and as the episode of NXT was ending, it was revealed that Gran Metalik would be taking on Santos Escobar for the NXT Cruiserweight Championship at NXT’s New Year’s Evil. It’ll be a huge match between two feuding superstars, so make sure to tune in and see if Metalik can upset Escobar to become the newest Cruiserweight champion.
