Tony Khan spoke to the media after AEW Full Gear last night and he went into detail about an event they are planning on having in the next few months.
Since there is almost 4 months to pass before AEW’s next PPV (Revolution on Feb. 27), Wrestlezone’s Bill Pritchard had the chance to ask Tony what they plan on doing from now until then. Tony replied by saying, “You keyed up news that I am going to break. There is going to be a ‘Beach Break’ in January and in December we have some huge events coming up also. We have a really big slate of Dynamite shows coming up. In December we will see some of our biggest shows ever. ‘Beach Break’ in January will be a great event. That is very much a good question.”
Later in the media interview, one reporter asked Tony how he felt about Darby Allin being their first true homegrown champion. He referenced Jericho, Moxley, Cody, and Brodie all having championship experience in other companies. When asked how he felt about Allin, Tony said, “I’m a huge fan of Darby and I think it was very appropriate that the fourth match between Cody and Darby in AEW was a championship win for Darby because his debut here came against Cody. Our executive VP’s do a great job scouting people and bringing them up to our attention. Cody wanted to work with Darby and I was very onboard with this. After the match he had I realized that Darby is going to be a huge star. I think everybody, our fans, everyone backstage here, all believe in him.”
