Unlike FTR’s recent defenses, this was under normal rules and had a 60-minute time limit rather than 20. The challengers were serious throughout and would hit a Strong Zero for a near fall. However, FTR had an advantage for much of the match and were in control most of the time.

While FTR didn’t take the easy way out by ending the bout via count out, they did decide to cheat. A belt shot while Tully Blanchard distracted the ref meant that the champs successfully retained.
