Keith Lee appeared on the WWE Payback 2020 Preview special edition of WWE’s The Bump. Lee reflected on his debut on WWE RAW and shared his mindset ahead of his match with Randy Orton. Here are some highlights:
On mindset heading into his match with Randy Orton:
Lee: “I think that I feel the same as any other challenge, to be honest. There is the slight sense of being careful because of the person that is going to be across the ring from me, but just like any other circumstance, this is an opportunity, and opportunities are something that I thrive when I receive them, so I’m looking forward to facing up to the challenge and hopefully overcoming the obstacle.”
On his first match with Orton on WWE RAW:
Lee: “I think it is fair to say that he is one of the greatest of all time for a reason, but even with that being the circumstance, I feel like I am worthy enough to be in there with him, and I feel like I proved that just a tiny bit. And we may have been interrupted, and I’m not ecstatic about that, but I am more than ecstatic to get another opportunity at such an aptly named show such as Payback. ”
On how personal the match with Randy Orton is:
Lee: “Clearly when you’re having a debut, it’s not the best circumstance to have your match interrupted, but by the same token, I understand Drew’s mindset and especially with someone who is as dastardly as Randy Orton, so with all that said, him being put in an ambulance put a lot of things into perspective for me. And while this match is an opportunity for me and myself, it is also an opportunity to get payback, not just for me but for my friend, Drew McIntyre.”
