Pro Wrestling NOAH and DDT Pro are joining forces through a company merger and will be collectively known as CyberFight.
According to a press conference on Monday, the two promotions will officially start together on September 1. The DDT English Update Twitter account provided more details on the change, noting that the move was due to adapting to the ‘Corona era’ and it had been discussed since April. The merger was first approached in reaction to the economic situation due to COVID-19 but parent company CyberAgent, who owns both promotions, wanted to continue running shows and streamline costs where they could.
According to the conference, Sanshiro Takagi is the new President and Naomichi Marufuji and Akito are both Executive Vice Presidents. Takagi noted that the in-ring work of each promotion will be unaffected and they will run as individual business divisions. In addition, Takagi said they are looking at potentially running an event at Tokyo Dome. He added that nothing is set in stone but they’ll remain flexible on inviting fans or what the event lineup might look like, noting that it could be a one promotion show or something with both NOAH and DDT.
