AJ Styles has been no stranger to defending his WWE Intercontinental Championship, and during tonight’s SmackDown, he watched as Gran Metalik earned a shot to become the latest contender for the belt.
During tonight’s Friday Night SmackDown, Metalik took on Lince Dorado, Shorty G, and Drew Gulak in a Fatal 4-Way match to determine the next contender for the Intercontinental title. After going back and forth for some time, it was Metalik who came out on top, as he was able to land a rope walk elbow drop on Drew Gulak, who had just thrown Dorado off the top rope. With no one in the ring to stop the count, Metalik won. Following the match, Styles got into the ring and went to shake Metalik’s hand, but slapped him instead, causing Metalik to knock Styles out of the ring.
