Tony Khan says the TNT Champion will be integrated into the AEW World Title Rankings.
As All Elite Wrestling kicks off the legacy of a brand-new championship, the TNT Championship, at AEW Double or Nothing this Saturday, some fans are wondering how this will play into the ranking system for the promotion. AEW President Tony Khan took to Twitter to shed some light on how things will work moving forward.

Khan revealed in a reply to a fan on Twitter that the TNT Champion will have the de facto number two spot in the rankings, with the AEW World Champion being number one. Typically, the number one contender for the world title has held the number two spot in the rankings.
Good question. It’ll be a similar format, but going forward we’ll have the 2 male singles champions ranked at the top above the Top 5.

In many promotions in the past, especially the NWA, the secondary championship, regardless of the name, has always been symbolic of the number one contender’s spot in the league. All Elite Wrestling continues to honor the past with an eye towards the future, this decision may be yet another reflection of that mentality.
Cody Rhodes will meet Lance Archer in the finals of the TNT Championship tournament on Saturday at the pay-per-view, and the inaugural AEW TNT Champion will be presented the belt by boxing legend and WWE Hall of Famer, Mike Tyson.
