WWE commentator Nigel McGuinness was recently on a special episode of Apter Chat with Bill Apter. During the interview, McGuinness discussed NXT’s move to USA Network and the differences in calling a live show, as opposed to a taped one.
“It was a great day all around,” said McGuinness. “Everybody was so excited to get the opportunity to get eyes on the product. Just to be part of it was huge, I was excited and I love the team and everyone involved.”
McGuinness also briefly discussed the challenges of switching to a live broadcast.”It was quite nerve-wracking, it’s a different process. we used to do four hours taped in a row and now two hours live and it’s so no room for error.
Plus, McGuinness talked about NXT’s constantly changing roster, one key ingredient of its success. “That’s the beauty of NXT, absolutely, there’s always people coming in and it’s always, really arguably for the last four, five years now, bringing in the hottest free agent in the industry and they’ve found a home in NXT and they’ve created really a true alternative,” said McGuinness.
