MLW FUSION: JULY 20, 2019
This week’s episode of MLW Fusion featured two headline main event matches as both bouts had their share of bad blood to boil over and did it ever.
If you didn’t think Salina de la Renta was demonic enough in her business practices, Fusion kicked off with “The Empresaria” running a “ritual of revenge” in retaliation to Mance Warner’s actions last week. Salina stated that to take down Warner she understands that it requires a “special power” so she’s “summoned a devil and his name is Bestia 666.”
Alexander Hammerstone defeated Davey Boy Smith Jr. via disqualification to retain the National Openweight Championship
The fireworks in first of Fusion’s two main events didn’t begin in ring as Alexander Hammerstone and Richard Holliday were interviewed earlier in the day by new MLW correspondent Georgia Smith. Being the sister of Davey Boy, Georgia had to suffer the unsavory words of Hammerstone who wanted to show Georgia what a real man looks like. That couldn’t of sat well with Davey who found himself walking to the ring on his own as both Teddy and Brian were having flight trouble. Champion Hammerstone was flagged by MJF, Holliday and Aria Blake and they certainly played a factor in this singles match for the Openweight Title.
The two big men used a mixture of power, punches and technical prowess in attempts to subdue one another, but the Openweight Champ took one too many occasions to showboat and that played into Davey Boy’s favor. Davey used the strength and skill his father gave him to better Hammerstone in a battle of German suplexes and landed an all-too-impressive Bulldog bomb in which he rolled over into a jackknife pin attempt.
The Dynasty wouldn’t know fair game if it was echoed through Holliday’s Air Pods as MJF saw Hammer in peril and spit on Davey Boy’s Canadian flag. That sent DB over the edge and he used that very flag to inflict retribution against the trio, but it also cost him a disqualification.
Next up, there’s a video package showcasing both Russ and Marshall Von Erich. The two have had enough of CONTRA Unit’s unruly rough-shot nature and the brothers are ready and willing to “Claw” down any combination of CONTRA down to the canvas. CONTRA responded in turn with a rogue video accepting the Von Erichs’ challenge and it’s official: the match will take place next week on Fusion!
Speaking of next week, we’ll also be getting what Salina was summoning earlier in the show: it’s gonna be The Southern Psychopath Mance Warner against that devil, Bestia 666. Ol’ Mancer shows no fear as he’s ready for a bloodbath with only a chain as his ally.
Salina might have her eyes set on Warner, but she better keep them peeled for Konnan as well, who has hold of The Empresaria’s phone and according to Konnan, he’s now got some dirt to dish on de la Renta.
Los Parks defeated The Wagners
The Wagners literally got the early jump on Los Parks as they did a stereo suicide dive onto their generational rivals.
The Wagners showcased their doctorates in lucha libre as they controlled a hefty part of the match, until LA Park assisted his son in one spectacular looking Spanish fly. The offensive cherry on top for Los Parks happened to be returning the the favor to the Wagners on the suicide dives.
Matters got more heated however when LA Park ripped of Dr. Wagner Jr.’s mask and that charged the father up enough to go on the attack.
The sons eventually had a showdown and it’s El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. who took over, until El Hijo de LA Park found his footing and both boys slug one another down to the mat.
Soon after Dr. Wagner Jr. almost got the fall on LA Park, but El Hijo made the save for The Chairman by pulling referee Frank Gastineau to the outside. The chaos found its way to the outside as well as Cornette and Bocchini have to run for the hills as their table is used for suplex purposes.
Los Parks were the ones to find the thrill of victory however as LA Park’s veteran savvy was showcased in the midsection of El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. with a well-placed spear for the 1-2-3.
A heck of a win to highlight an international affair, but will this momentum carry over for Promociones Dorado next week as Mance Warner looks to continue his headhunting?
