Sean ‘X-Pac’ Waltman on Finn Balor Taking Time Off : It’s A ‘Tough Spot’ To Be In

On the latest episode of X-Pac 1 2 360, Sean Waltman covers Finn Balor’s recent request to take time off. He mentions John Oliver’s expose on WWE’s talent scheduling and how one of their defenses was that wrestlers can take time off whenever they please. However, because of the nature of the business, asking for time off puts you in a “tough spot.” He recalled a Macho Man quote to express how he felt.

I always talk about Randy Savage’s words of advice: ‘Never take yourself out of the game’ and ‘Let the competition eliminate themselves’ were two things that he really [stressed]. And when you operate with that mentality, it’s almost impossible to ask for time off.

Some other highlights from the show involve the Evolve Anniversary show and whether X-Pac would ever wrestle again. Transcripts of said highlights are provided as always by X-Pac 1 2 360.

On the status of his wrestling career

“By the way, I’m fucking done wrestling. Oh, I’m done, yeah. I’m not saying I’m never going to have another match, but I mean… Yeah, I decided. The WrestleMania weekend show, myself and Hurricane and Liger. That’s it, man. That was it. I’m fucking done. [Laughs] If I have a match in WWE on a WrestleMania, or… Actually, I’m more interested in having a match on a show like [an NXT TakeOver event]. It would mean more to me. […] Maybe I’d team with Matt Riddle. Maybe a six-man, so I can
have a little bit more protection.”

On Drew Gulak vs. Matt Riddle from EVOLVE 131

“I went out of my way to see that. I just love that, when guys can go out there and do that. And there’s very few that can go out there and do it like that. That was those guys going out there and just wrestling. There was no, ‘I think we should do this, I think we should do that.’ I think they might have had a finish [planned], and that was it.”
