Despite the cancellation of one ongoing WWE-centric comic series, it doesn’t mean that the wrestlers of World Wrestling Entertainment are out of the funny pages for good. As first reported by ComicBook.com, BOOM! Studios have announced a new SmackDown Live! one-shot ahead of San Diego Comic-Con. Written by Kevin Panetta and drawn by Kendall Goode, the book will focus on “The Man” Becky Lynch as she arrives in a new era of SmackDown. Timed to coincide with the relaunch of the blue brand on FOX, Becky will be interacting with WWE Legends and current superstars in the pages.
Here’s the official synopsis for the first issue of the book as provided by BOOM! Studios.
Join Lynch as she arrives at the arena and runs into The Brothers of Destruction (Undertaker and Kane), WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions The IIconics (Peyton Royce and Billie Kay), WWE Champion Kofi Kingston, WWE Superstar Roman Reigns, and many more. Behind the scenes, unexpected alliances are formed, lifelong enemies are made, and chaos ensues as Superstars erupt into a free-for-all centered around The Man herself.
WWE SmackDown #1 will be in stores on October 2nd.
