After challenging both AJ Styles and Sami Zayn to a match for the WWE Championship on tonight’s SmackDown Live, Kofi Kingston lived up to his promise of being a fighting champion, defending his title in back-to-back nights, and both in matches that managed to put on an incredible show for the fans.

At the beginning of the match, things looked shaky for Kingston, who was unable to get much going against a much fresher and more aggressive Zayn. However, it was thanks to Styles that he was able to get some air, as Styles and Zayn began brawling it out. Unfortunately for the pair, Kingston was able to get some energy and keep things interesting by taking Zayn out of the ring and delivering a series of kicks to Styles outside of the ring.

As Kingston gained some energy in the ring and Zayn and Styles recuperated outside of it, Kevin Owens made a surprise appearance, attempting to take down Xavier Woods and create chaos for Kingston. After knocking out Woods and drawing Kingston’s attention, Owens almost succeeded in his plan, as Kingston was nearly defeated by Zayn after a series of Blue Thunder Bombs. The new WWE Champion was able to weather the storm, though, and took down Zayn with a Trouble in Paradise. After tending to Woods outside of the ring, Kingston promised that he’d take down Owens at Money in the Bank.
