WWE SmackDown kicked off tonight with the former face of the brand, AJ Styles. He told the crowd that the wild card rule is now in effect and that was why he’s crashing SmackDown. “SmackDown Live is still the house that AJ Styles built,” declared the former WWE Champion.
However, his return was soon interrupted by Sami Zayn, who apparently didn’t die due to the trash compactor yesterday. Zayn said that Styles’ ego was out of control and he had to come out to confront it. This confrontation was short-lived as Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods came out. Kingston told Styles that he doesn’t live here anymore. “I am the champ now,” declared Kingston. “So, what do you want to do about it?”
Zayn said he knew where this was going and that Styles doesn’t deserve a shot at the WWE Championship. Instead, Zayn deserves one. Kingston said he was a fighting champion, so he wanted to put it on the line against either of them. Thus a triple threat match was made for later tonight.
