Johnny Impact retained the IMPACT World Championship in the main event of IMPACT Homecoming defeating Brian Cage. The former X-Division Champion was a game challenger against the champ with his strength and power, but Impact’s veteran acumen took advantage of a mistake and rolled him up for the pin.
The finish was met with disdain, as his wife Taya Valkyrie won the IMPACT Knockouts Championship in similar controversial fashion, The fans booed the decision of the finish and it looked to be an apparent heel turn for the couple.

The celebration of married champions was cut short in a violent way as Killer Kross retaliated against Impact’s refusal for his assistance. Kross would attack Impact and destroyed him immensely. He wasn’t finished as he also attacked Taya and powerbombed her to the crowd of The Asylum.
