Mixed martial arts icon and former World Championship Wrestling star Tank Abbott has lost over 100 pounds recently, and it’s all due to a recent liver transplant. He revealed that he also quit drinking in a new interview with The Hannibal TV. The story of the transplant is quite a wild one, as he actually died several times during the operation.
“[My body] finally caught up with all of my wild life,” said Abbott. “Blew a gasket on my liver, but I got a nice transplant and everything is moving right along. It was not without complications, though. I died five times on the operating table, had over six strokes, but I’m still here. This is the hardest fight I’ve ever had. I spent 107 days in the intensive care unit.”
However, Abbott is letting these health setbacks define him. Not only has he cleaned up his life, but he has a positive outlook towards the future. “I’ve been out of commission for a little bit. I’m getting fired up again and do things that I love to do, which is to kick ass.”
