As previously reported on WrestleZone, IWGP United States Champion Cody Rhodes suffered an apparent knee injury after teasing a tee shirt toss. Rhodes took to Twitter in response and shared, “Going from one side of the crowd to the other last night, teasing a t-shirt toss of all things…heard a loud POP in my knee. Terryfing. Hoping it was just a lil’ meniscus and Sunday I can still deliver.”
Any hopes for Rhodes wrestling at tomorrow evening’s ROH Global Wars: Toronto show have now officially been dashed. Although he will still be participating in the pre-show meet & greet, Cody Rhodes will no longer be wrestling tomorrow evening. Ring of Honor & Rhodes are now in search of a ‘suitable’ replacement for what was supposed to be an IWGP United States Championship defense against Beretta. Rhodes is scheduled for an MRI later in the week to determine the extent of any knee damage he may have suffered.
Sadly folks I will not be able to wrestle tomorrow in Toronto. I will still be at the pre-show meet/greet to say hello to everybody
ROH & I will find a suitable replacement for the match. I’m extremely sorry. I’ll be able to confirm the extent of the issue after an MRI this week
