While WrestleMania 32 was quite a dud, the months that followed it was nothing short of outstanding. Superstars took it to the next levels and feuds and match quality suddenly seemed to take a step up. This was exactly what happened in the Intercontinental title picture when The Miz became champion.
After a rather controversial victory over Cesaro the prior month, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn got their rivalry involved in it and made it a Fatal-4-Way mix. The match delivered some of the most breathtaking action of that year and all four performers brought the best out of each other, not giving the fans a moment to breathe.
The four would put on one of the best matches of the year, but it had tough competition. Ultimately, The Miz would retain after Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn focused on each other too much, costing themselves a title victory.
