#4.) Undertaker vs Bret Hart – SummerSlam 1997
In the Summer of ’97, Bret Hart was declared as the #1 contender for the WWF Championship. His rival Shawn Michaels also requested to be a part of this match and was inserted as special guest referee. With Bret Hart in his “Heel in America, Babyface outside” persona, he vowed to never wrestle in the United States again had he not won.
The interesting part of the match was that despite being the WWF Champion, The Undertaker was actually just a secondary character to fuel the Bret Hart-Shawn Michaels rivalry. That didn’t stop him, however, from having an outstanding title match with one of the best to ever do it.
With all the drama, Shawn Michaels would cost Undertaker the title by mistake and the two would feud for the next couple of months prior to the Montreal Screwjob later that year.
