Following a King of the Ring tournament victory in 2002, Brock Lesnar became the #1 contender to The Rock’s WWE Championship in less than four months of his debut. It led to a huge SummerSlam clash dubbed as “The Rock vs Brock” and it would be a huge test for the young superstar.
It wasn’t easy to step up to the plate at Madison Square Garden in the second biggest PPV of the year, especially when you hardly have half a year of experience behind you. But that’s what separated Lesnar from the rest and at the end of it all, he found himself getting cheered big time as he beat The Great One to win his first-ever WWE Championship.
