#4.) Shawn Michaels vs The British Bulldog – King of the Rin 1996
At King of the Ring 1996, ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin would utter the famous “Austin 3:16” catchphrase – one that would shoot him into superstardom. However, that wasn’t the focus on the night. The main event would see Shawn Michaels, three months into his WWF title reign take on The British Bulldog with Mr. Perfect as the special guest referee. However, in the last minute, he was changed to the “outside” referee.
It was good for Bulldog because he was being shot into the WWF Championship picture. It wasn’t his time, however, but he would prove to be a legitimate world title challenger to Michaels. Despite people saying that Michaels lost a lot of steam as WWF Champion, the reaction he got at this event says otherwise.
Bulldog and Michaels had a great bout, with Owen Hart trying to help Bulldog win. Either way, the contest went nearly half an hour before Michaels finished him off.
